Axel Reymond and Notable Contenders Gear Up for the 69th Traversée internationale du lac Saint-Jean
French swimmer Axel Reymond, a two-time world champion in the 25 kilometers distance, is set to participate in the 69th Traversée internationale du lac Saint-Jean on July 29th. Reymond’s impressive track record makes him a formidable contender in the race. However, he will face stiff competition from other notable swimmers, including Matteo Furlan of Italy, the 2017 25km world vice champion, and Alessio Occhipinti, the 25km bronze medalist at the 2019 World Cup.

In addition to these talented athletes, the race will feature other prominent participants from around the world. Mexico’s Olympic swimmer Daniel Delgadillo and Australian swimmers Bailey Armstrong and Jack Wilson are among the competitors to watch. A strong delegation from Argentina, including Aquiles Balaudo, Martin Miguel Carrizo Yunges, Matias Diaz Hernandez, Guillermo Bertola, and Santiago Petrucci, will also showcase their skills in the waters of Lake Saint-Jean. Italy will be represented by Marco Inglima, Francesco Ghettini, and Aleksandar Ilievski from Macedonia.
On the Canadian side, William Racine from Quebec will attempt to rally both shores after an unsuccessful attempt in the previous year’s event. Philippe Lacasse from Saint-Georges will embark on a baptism by fire, swimming a challenging 32 kilometers following his third-place finish in the Rio Tinto Relay Marathon in 2022.

Among the women’s category, spectators should keep an eye on Erika Yenssen from Argentina, the champion of the 2022 Santa Fe-Coronda Marathon, and Inès Delacroix, the French junior champion in the 25 kilometers distance. This will mark their first appearance in the waters of Piékouagami. They will be joined by experienced swimmers such as Daira Eluney Marin and Rita Vanesa Garcia from Argentina, Sandra Frimerman-Berguist from the USA, and Elena Lionello from Italy.
Other swimmers who may surprise the audience include Mayte Puca from Argentina, Madisyn Armstrong from Australia, and Anna Valeria Zuccolotto from Mexico. In total, 25 swimmers from eight countries, comprising 16 men and 9 women, will take part in the 69th edition of the Traversée internationale du lac Saint-Jean presented by Rio Tinto.
On July 29, the 69th 32 km Traversée internationale du lac Saint-Jean presented by Rio Tinto will start at 8 a.m.
